Police constable found dead in Gaibandha Superintendent of Police bungalow barracks

The body of a police officer was recovered from a barracks at the Superintendent of Police (SP) bungalow in Gaibandha on Wednesday afternoon, authorities confirmed. The deceased, 33-year-old Habibur Rahman, served as a Nayek in the police force and was assigned to security duty at the official residence.
According to police sources, colleagues discovered Rahman’s body hanging in a bathroom inside the barracks at approximately 4:45 p.m. Fellow officers on duty at the bungalow reported the discovery to senior officials, after which the body was recovered and transported to the Gaibandha General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Sharif Al Rajib, the Additional Superintendent of Police for Administration and Finance in Gaibandha, confirmed the incident late Wednesday night. He stated that preliminary findings suggest the officer may have taken his own life due to personal and family issues. A report on the condition of the body was prepared in the presence of a magistrate, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death is ongoing.
Rahman, a native of the Babupara area in Nilphamari, was the son of Mintu Mia. He had been stationed at the SP bungalow for some time, where he resided in the barracks alongside other security personnel.
Efforts to reach Gaibandha Superintendent of Police Jasim Uddin for comment via telephone were unsuccessful.
