Islamic University Student Expelled Following Allegations of Circulating Secret Photos of Hall Residents

Authorities at Islamic University in Kushtia have expelled a female student from her residential hall following allegations that she secretly captured compromising photographs of her roommates and classmates to send to her boyfriend.
The incident came to light after the accused student’s relationship with a United Kingdom-based man reportedly deteriorated. Following a fallout, the man sent some of the illicit photographs back to the victims, causing significant distress and commotion within the residence hall. Hall administration and the proctorial body were alerted to the situation on Thursday night.
On Friday morning, the hall authorities convened an emergency meeting to address the matter. During the session, seven students submitted formal written complaints. Some of the victims provided evidence by showing a female faculty member the compromising images that had been transmitted to the man. Upon questioning by authorities, the accused student initially confirmed the validity of the allegations.
Following the investigation, the student was expelled from the hall and placed under the custody of her father. To address the scope of the incident, university officials have formed a three-member probe committee led by Professor Arifa Akhter, with Professor Muha. Kamruzzaman serving as member-secretary and Assistant Proctor Professor Moha. Khairul Islam as a member. The committee has been instructed to submit its findings within seven working days.
The hall provost confirmed that the accused student’s two mobile phones have been seized and handed over to the committee convener. Furthermore, the hall administration has extended the deadline for additional complaints until Sunday to determine if there are further victims. In response to the breach of privacy, the hall has implemented a ban on video calls within student rooms; residents are now required to step outside if they wish to conduct video conversations.
In a video statement provided to campus journalists, the accused student claimed that her classmates were aware of the man and had communicated with him previously. She maintained that she captured the images merely to show her boyfriend who she was with at the time, asserting that she did not realize such actions would be deemed inappropriate or illegal.
