Fallen tree damages three cars in Dhaka Dhanmondi area during heavy rain

A large tree collapsed onto a busy road in the Dhanmondi area of Dhaka during heavy rainfall on Monday evening, causing significant damage to three private vehicles. Authorities confirmed that there were no casualties resulting from the incident.
The collapse occurred at approximately 7:45 p.m. near the Abahani field intersection on Road 12/A. According to reports from the scene, the tree, which had been situated on the sidewalk, suddenly fell across the roadway amidst intense weather conditions that had already slowed traffic flow throughout the capital.
Subhra Deb, an assistant commissioner of police for the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) traffic division in Dhanmondi, stated that the impact severely crushed the three cars caught beneath the falling trunk. Despite the extensive damage to the vehicles, all occupants remained unharmed.
Following the incident, traffic movement along Road 12/A was suspended. Imdadul Islam, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Dhanmondi Police Station, confirmed that local law enforcement is on the scene managing the situation. He added that the city corporation has been notified and efforts to clear the debris and restore traffic flow are currently underway.
