APBN arrests high-ranking ARSA commander and associate in Coxs Bazar refugee camp raid

The 14th Armed Police Battalion (APBn) has arrested a commander of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) during an operation at a refugee camp in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar. The operation, which took place at approximately 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, targeted Block D-4 of Camp 6.
Authorities identified the arrested commander as 40-year-old Mohammad Alam, also known as Musa. His associate, 22-year-old Abdul Hafez, was also taken into custody during the raid. Both individuals were residents of Block D-4 within the same camp.
According to APBn officials, Mohammad Alam is a named suspect in a murder case and faces multiple outstanding charges at the Ukhia Police Station, including homicide, narcotics trafficking, and illegal arms possession.
The arrest was confirmed by Additional DIG Mohammad Sirajul Amin, the commanding officer of the 14th APBn, who oversees security at the refugee camps. He stated that the suspects were apprehended at a hideout within Camp 6. During preliminary interrogation, both men reportedly admitted to their active involvement with the ARSA insurgent group.
Following the arrests, both suspects were transferred to the custody of the Ukhia Police Station for further legal proceedings.
