Recently, the elected Board of Directors of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) was dissolved and an ad hoc committee was formed in place of the board headed by Aminul Islam Bulbul. A similar situation is now seen in Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).

SLC president Shammi Silva held a special meeting with its executive committee members on Tuesday (April 28). After a three-hour meeting, the entire committee, including the president, decided to resign. According to news agency PTI, their resignation letters will be submitted to Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamag on Wednesday.

However, at the end of the meeting, the board members did not comment on future plans. As a result, how the new administration will be formed remains uncertain.

Although officially announced as resignations, in reality the government forced them to step down due to long-standing allegations of corruption and irregularities. Earlier, the government had indicated to dissolve the board and form an interim committee within a week. In that context, the committee led by Shammi Silva has resigned.

It may be noted that Shammi Silva was in charge of SLC for four consecutive terms, out of which he was elected unopposed three times. For a long time, various criticisms and allegations of corruption were raised regarding these elections and the management of the board.
