Woman Alleges Gang Rape After Being Lured to Satkhira for Medical Treatment

A woman from Koyra Upazila in Khulna has filed a formal complaint alleging she was gang-raped after being lured to Tala Upazila in Satkhira under the pretext of receiving medical treatment. Following the complaint, police have registered a case against one identified suspect and two unidentified accomplices.
The victim reportedly traveled to Tala on Thursday afternoon after being promised assistance in consulting a doctor. She had been introduced to the primary suspect—who claims to work at a private clinic in Satkhira—through a mutual acquaintance. Upon arrival, the suspect informed her that it was too late to see a doctor and suggested she stay the night at a rented house, assuring her that his mother and sister were present at the residence.
According to the victim’s statement, she was drugged after being offered food laced with sedatives by a woman residing at the house. Once she lost consciousness, she was sexually assaulted. Upon regaining consciousness, the victim confronted the woman present, who allegedly responded with verbal abuse and threatened to circulate a video of the assault on social media. The victim stated that she was subsequently raped multiple times throughout the night.
The woman managed to escape the premises the following morning and contacted a relative, with whom she went to the Tala Police Station to report the incident.
Tala Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Abu Bakar Siddique confirmed that a case has been filed and that authorities are conducting an investigation. While the identities of the suspects have been withheld to preserve the integrity of the ongoing probe, police confirmed that search operations are currently underway. The victim has been sent to Satkhira Sadar Hospital for a medical examination and necessary treatment.
