Whether Chinmoy Das will get bail in five separate cases, May 10 verdict

It can be known on May 10 whether Bangladesh Sammilit Sanatani Jagran Jot spokesman Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari will get bail in five separate cases including murder. The High Court has fixed the date of judgment on his separate application seeking bail in these cases.
The High Court bench comprising of Justice KM Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher fixed this day of judgment on Thursday.
Chinmoy Krishna Das applied for bail in the High Court after failing in the subordinate court in five separate cases. On September 1, the High Court ruled on the preliminary hearing on the applications. In these cases, the petitioner (Chinmoy) was asked to know why the bail should not be granted.
Lawyer Apoorva Kumar Bhattacharya appeared on behalf of Chinmoy Das in the court. Deputy Attorney General Syeda Sazia Sharmin was for the state.
Lawyer Apoorva Kumar Bhattacharya told Prothom Alo that the hearing on the ruling on the bail question of Chinmoy Krishna Das in five separate cases has ended. The court has fixed May 10 as the date for the verdict.
Lawyer Saiful Islam was hacked and beaten to death in Chittagong, assault on the police, car vandalism and Chinmoy Das’s bail application in the High Court in five separate cases, his lawyer said.
Earlier, the court arrested Chinmoy Das in the lawyer Saiful Islam murder case on May 5 last year in view of the police’s application after the virtual hearing. Later arrests were shown in other cases.
On November 26, 2024, lawyer Saiful Islam was beaten and hacked to death in clashes over the bail of Sanatani Jagran Jot spokesperson Chinmoy Das in a case of desecration of the national flag. His father Jamal Uddin became the plaintiff in the murder case and filed a murder case by mentioning the names of 31 people. Apart from this, five more cases were registered in connection with attacks on police, obstruction of work, attacks on lawyers and litigants and cocktail explosions.
The then General Secretary of Chandgaon Mohra Ward of Chittagong City Feroze Khan filed the case against 19 people including Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari in Kotwali Police Station on October 31, 2024 on the charge of sedition by insulting the national flag. Later Feroze Khan was dismissed from BNP. In this case, Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested on November 25, 2024 from Dhaka.
