Dhaka’s Universal Medical College Hospital partnered with India’s Max Healthcare on Thursday to host a scientific seminar focused on advancements in hematology, bone marrow transplantation, and kidney care. The event, held at the hospital’s lecture gallery, aimed to bridge international medical expertise with local clinical practices to enhance patient outcomes.

Expert clinicians from Max Healthcare, including Senior Director of Hemato-Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant Dr. Satyaranjan Das and Senior Director of Nephrology and Kidney Transplant Dr. Anil Prasad Bhatt, served as the primary speakers. They detailed modern international protocols for managing complex blood disorders and the latest techniques in organ transplantation, emphasizing the life-extending potential of these procedures in contemporary medicine.

Dr. Ashis Kumar Chakrabarty, managing director of Universal Medical College Hospital, opened the session by underscoring the critical need for cross-border knowledge exchange to elevate the national healthcare landscape. He outlined the institution’s strategic roadmap, announcing that the hospital is actively preparing to launch internal programs for liver, bone marrow, bone joint, and kidney transplantation.

The seminar featured collaborative panel discussions involving distinguished specialists, including Professor Brigadier General (Retd.) Md. Shahidul Islam, Professor Rana Mokarram Hossain, and Associate Professor Tofayel Ahammed, who provided insights into nephrology and urology. The hematology panel included contributions from Lieutenant Colonel Ruksana Khanam, Farhana Islam Nila, and Md. Akhlaq-ul-Islam.

The assembly, which was attended by various clinical department heads and senior medical leadership, concluded with an awards ceremony recognizing the participants.
