Two more children died with symptoms of measles in Mymensingh Medical

Two new children died in the last 24 hours with symptoms of measles in the Measles Isolation Ward of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. During this time, 26 more children were admitted. Currently 73 children are under treatment.

The two children who died include Humayun Mia’s 10-month-old son Sadekul, a resident of Gouripur upazila in the district, and Sohan, a 9-month-old child of Phulpur. Sadekul was admitted to the measles isolation ward of the hospital at 10:30 am on Saturday. The child died within 25 minutes. On the other hand, Sohan of Trishal was admitted to the hospital on March 22. This child died yesterday at 10:50 pm on Saturday. Measles samples were not collected from these two children.

The hospital authorities said that 26 children were newly admitted to the Measles Isolation Ward of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital with symptoms of measles between 8:00 am on Saturday and 8:00 am on Sunday. 397 children have been admitted with measles symptoms since March 17 till this morning. Among them, 312 children were discharged from the hospital. 12 children died. Currently 73 children are under treatment. In the last 24 hours, 28 more children have recovered and been discharged from the hospital.

Mymensingh Medical College Hospital Assistant Director (Administration) Mohammad Mainuddin Khan said, two new babies died in 24 hours. During this time, 26 new children were admitted with symptoms of measles.
