There are two seats in Jhalkathi, four MPs

Earlier Rafiqul Islam of BNP was elected from Jhalkathi-1 (Rajapur-Kantalia) constituency in the 13th National Assembly elections. His village home is in Challish Kahnia village of Shuktagarh village of Rajapur upazila. On the other hand, BNP’s Israt Sultana Ilain Bhutto became a Member of Parliament from Jhalkathi-2 (Sadar-Nalchiti) seat. Her husband’s house is in Mollarhat Union of Nalchiti Upazila.
As a result, four upazilas of Jhalkathi – Rajapur, Nalchiti, Sadar and Kanthalia are now getting separate representatives in Parliament. According to local residents, due to multiple representatives of the same district, the problems of different areas have been presented separately in Parliament. It can also have a positive impact on development activities.

District BNP convener Syed Hossain said that earlier the problem of one constituency was often not important in other areas. Now that there are four parliamentarians, each of them can present the issues of their respective areas in the parliament. Expectations of the people of the district, communication system, river erosion, education, health and other long-standing problems will be discussed more forcefully at the national level.
