The police is launching an operation against stolen vehicles in the capital
In the capital Dhaka, the police are embarking on an operation against theft and dangerous vehicles. Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a public notice in this regard on Wednesday. In the notification, concerned owners and drivers have been specifically requested not to drive vehicles beyond the specified ‘economic life’ in the Dhaka metropolitan area.
According to DMP’s public notification, some dangerous, dangerous and unfit buses and cargo vehicles are plying in Dhaka city. Such vehicles often break down on roads, flyovers and bridges causing severe traffic jams. As a result, public suffering is extreme and road safety is severely compromised. Due to this, a drive will be conducted against all the dangerous, dangerous and unusable vehicles that exceed their economic life in the Dhaka metropolitan area.
According to a notification issued by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) in 2023, economic life is set at 20 years for buses and minibuses and 25 years for trucks, covered vans and other freight vehicles.
The notification also said that if anyone drives vehicles exceeding their economic life in Dhaka metropolitan area, especially rickety, dangerous and unfit vehicles, a special operation will be launched soon against them. This operation will be coordinated by Special Metropolitan Magistrate and Traffic Police. This will lead to strict legal action like fine, sending the vehicle to dumping.
