Young top terrorist Teton shot dead in Newmarket area

This time, top terrorist Khandkar Naeem Ahmed Titon was killed on the streets of Dhaka. He is the brother-in-law of another top terrorist Sanjidul Islam Imon.

Miscreants shot him dead in front of Dhaka University’s Shahnewaz dormitory on the west side of New Market of the capital on Tuesday around 8:30 pm. His name was number 2 in the list of 23 top terrorists announced by the government in 2001. The police believe that he was killed in an infighting between top terrorists.

Deputy Inspector (SI) of Newmarket police station Molla Shahadat told Prothom Alo that some miscreants came on a motorcycle at around 8:30 pm and fired indiscriminately at a young man. Five to six shots were fired at different parts of his body, including his head, from close range. Then they ran away as soon as possible. Pedestrians rescued him with bullet wounds and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The doctor on duty there declared him dead at 8:27 pm.

Earlier, Tariq Saif Mamun, who was once listed as the top terrorist of the police, was publicly shot dead in front of the National Medical College in Old Dhaka at 11:15 on November 10 last year. The investigation revealed that top terrorist Sanjidul Islam Imon, sister-in-law of Naeem Ahmed Titon, was behind this murder.

According to the police, Titon entered the world of terrorism in the early 1990s. He was initially a member of a local criminal gang and gradually rose to prominence in the criminal world. Over time, Teton expanded his criminal activities. He led multiple assassinations. Titon was also involved in the arms trade and under his leadership developed a powerful arms network. There were several murder cases against him, among which the businessman Babar Elahi was killed.

In 2004 law enforcement forces arrested Khandaker Naeem Ahmed Titon from Cantonment area of ​​Dhaka. He was sentenced to death in Babar Elahi murder case in 2014. However, he was released from prison on bail in August 2024. He was released on bail from Kashimpur High Security Jail on August 12, 2024.
