BNP and Chhatra Dal leaders-activists have been accused of beating up a journalist in Satkhira’s Kalaroa. This incident took place in front of the press club of Upazila Sadar on Tuesday afternoon.

The injured journalist Asaduzzaman is the Satkhira district representative of Dainik Banglar Doot newspaper and the editor of an online portal called Dainik Samatat. He is a resident of Tulsidanga area of ​​Kalaroa Municipality.

Asaduzzaman said, he was standing in front of the Kalaroa Press Club around 12 noon today. At that time, some people attacked him under the leadership of Kalaroa Municipal BNP Vice President Akhlakur Rahman. He claimed that among the attackers were Akhlakur Rahman’s son Chhatra Dal leader Ankur, Abir and BNP workers Siraj and Altaf. When they beat him, he fell to the ground. The local people rescued him and first admitted him to the Press Club and later to the Kalaroa Upazila Health Complex.

Akhlakur Rahman, vice president of Kalaroa Municipal BNP, did not deny the allegations. He said that journalist Asaduzzaman has spread an audio record making false allegations of extortion against him. Enraged by this, he gave a ‘little beating’.

Kalaroa Upazila Health Complex doctor Safiqul Islam said that the injured journalist was given first aid and kept under observation in the hospital.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalaroa Police Station HM Shaheen said, the matter has been informed to him. The complaint is being looked into and necessary action will be taken.
