The body of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-9) Constable Eamon Acharya (28), who was stabbed to death by a drug dealer in Sylhet, has been handed over to his family. Before this, the autopsy of the dead body was completed at the Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Model Police Station in Sylhet, Khan Muhammad Mainul Zaki, confirmed the matter to Prothom Alo and said that Eman’s body was handed over to the family members at around 12 noon after the post-mortem. The relatives took the body to his village home in Hathazari, West Dhalai village of Chittagong. He will be cremated there.

Earlier on Friday around 12:30 noon, Emon Acharya was killed by a known drug dealer and robber named Asadul Alam near Kotwali Model Police Station in the city. A resident of Kazirbazar Mogltula in Asadul Nagar. There are several cases against him.

Eamon’s family members said that Eamon Acharya got married last February. He joined the workplace after spending leave at home a few days ago. The newly wedded wife, family members and relatives were mentally broken after hearing the news of his sudden death.

According to the police of Kotwali police station today around 5:30 pm, his brother Sujit Acharya filed a case with the police station accusing drug dealer Asadul Alam on Saturday morning in connection with the stabbing death of Emon. Asadul was arrested in the case and taken to court.

According to the police, some identified drug dealers were consuming and selling drugs in Kinbridge area of ​​Sylhet city on Friday afternoon. They are also known locally as robbers. A police patrol saw them and chased them. At this time they ran. Drug dealer Asadul Alam was running towards the road of Topkhana area. Emon Acharya was walking on the street then. At this time, he caught the drug dealer in Jap. Immediately, Asadul stabbed Emon on the left side of his chest. Later, Emon was taken to Osmani Medical College Hospital in a bloody state, where he died around 1:30 pm.

The police also said that when Asadul fled after stabbing Emon, the policemen chased him. At that time, he entered a house in Topkhana and held a knife to the throat of a child and tried to escape by taking the family members hostage. However, the police arrested him with a trick.

Meanwhile, immediately after the incident of Emon’s death, the police conducted raids in different areas of the metropolis. A total of 233 people have been arrested till 8 o’clock this Saturday morning, according to Metropolitan Police sources. According to the source, among the arrested persons there are regular case accused, robbers, drug dealers and users, warrant accused, gamblers, smugglers, juvenile gang members and people involved in various crimes.
