A 65-year-old man was fatally stabbed by his son in the Sitakunda Upazila of Chattogram on Saturday afternoon, police reported, following a prolonged familial dispute. The incident, which resulted in the death of Nuru Ullah, occurred around 5:00 PM in the Chinnamul 5th Society area of Jangal Salimpur village.

The accused, identified as 30-year-old Md. Saifullah, fled the scene immediately after the attack and remains at large. While Nuru Ullah hailed from Moheshkhali in Cox’s Bazar, he had resided with his family in the Jangal Salimpur area for many years.

Police investigations suggest the killing was the culmination of an ongoing domestic conflict. Approximately three months prior, Saifullah’s wife had returned to her parental home due to marital discord, which subsequently intensified tensions between Nuru Ullah and his son.

On Saturday afternoon, an argument between the father and son escalated sharply. In the heat of the dispute, Saifullah allegedly used a knife to inflict fatal wounds on his father.

He added that a murder case would be filed at the Sitakunda police station, and operations are actively underway to apprehend Saifullah.
