Security to be strengthened during Eid trip, arrangements will be made only by taking extra fare: DMP Commissioner

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed said that in view of the holy Eid-ul-Azha, special security and traffic management initiatives have been taken to ensure the safety of the residents of the capital and smooth movement of people going home. Immediate action is being taken on receiving complaints of excess rent.

He said these things to reporters after visiting Gabtali Bus Terminal and Gabtali Livestock Market in the capital on Monday afternoon.

DMP Commissioner said that special security and traffic plans are being implemented across the capital on the occasion of Eid. Security of animal markets, bus terminals, banks, Eid congregations and empty Dhaka during Eid holidays has been given utmost importance. Apart from visible police presence, sub-control rooms and watch towers have been set up at every livestock market designated by the two city corporations of Dhaka. Counterfeit note detectors have also been installed with the help of Bangladesh Bank.

Mosleh Uddin Ahmad said that the special team of plainclothes police including DB has been deployed 24 hours to prevent the activities of fake note cycle, ignorant party and malam party. Checkpoints have been set up at Gabtali, Uttara and Jatrabari, the gateways to the capital. There is also vigilance to ensure that animal trucks are not dropped anywhere other than designated haat.

Adequate police presence has been deployed at Sayedabad, Mohakhali and Gabtali bus terminals, Sadarghat launch terminal and Kamalapur railway station. The DMP commissioner also said that special metropolitan magistrates are running mobile courts to prevent passenger harassment, extra fare collection and extra passenger transport.
