Rajshahi University Jatiyatabadi Chhatradal Demands Investigation Into Alleged Irregularities in RAKSU Fund

The Rajshahi University unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has submitted a formal memorandum to the university administration, demanding a comprehensive investigation into alleged financial irregularities within the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RAKSU) fund.
The memorandum, containing seven specific demands, was submitted to Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Abdul Alim on Saturday afternoon. The student organization alleges that significant sums were withdrawn from the RAKSU fund in violation of established financial regulations.
According to the JCD, 12.91 million taka was allocated for 42 separate programs. The student group claims that bills and vouchers for 6.15 million taka remain unsubmitted. They further allege that the funds were withdrawn arbitrarily and were not utilized for the welfare of the general student body, but rather to serve personal or political agendas.
Professor Abdul Alim confirmed receipt of the memorandum and stated that the administration would review the allegations upon the return of the Vice-Chancellor to the campus. He emphasized that if any financial irregularities are confirmed, the university will take action in accordance with existing regulations.
The seven-point demand issued by the JCD calls for the full disclosure of all financial transactions, including the exact amounts, dates, and authorization details for every withdrawal. They have also requested a transparent, independent audit of RAKSU accounts, the formation of an impartial investigation committee, and the public release of the final investigation report.
Furthermore, the JCD demands that any individual found responsible for embezzlement or the violation of financial protocols be held accountable under university bylaws and national law. They are also seeking the recovery of any misappropriated funds and the implementation of mandatory accounting practices, such as rigorous auditing and the preservation of official vouchers for all future expenditures.
JCD University Unit President Sultan Ahmed Rahi stated that the union is acting on behalf of the students to protect their interests, noting that the organization had previously held demonstrations and organized a “voucher fair” to highlight the issue.
Efforts to reach RAKSU Vice-President Mostakur Rahman (Zahid) and General Secretary Salahuddin Ammar for comment were unsuccessful. However, in a previous statement, RAKSU leadership described earlier reports on these allegations as based on incomplete and unverified information, asserting that they remain committed to transparency and would welcome discussions following an official audit.
In a social media post, General Secretary Salahuddin Ammar stated that the current tenure of the RAKSU committee has not yet concluded. He maintained that a formal audit would take place once the term ends, at which point the respective editors would present their accounts for public scrutiny.
