Protest against BNP leader’s attack on former Chhatra Dal leader in Gazipur

In Gazipur, local residents staged a protest march and blockade to protest the attack on former Chhatra Dal leader Farhad Hossain and demand justice for those involved. The program was held in Mouchak area of Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur on Saturday morning. Due to this, the Dhaka-Tangail highway is closed for some time.
The agitators alleged that on April 21, tensions arose between the two sides based on the fake trade of a garment factory and the expansion of dominance in the area. At that time, a group of people led by the former General Secretary of Mouchak Union BNP Haroon Or Rashid attacked Farhad Hossain and his supporters with indigenous weapons and batons. This led to massive clashes between the two sides and at least five people including former Chhatra Dal leader Farhad Hossain were injured. The condition of the injured in Madhya Farhad is critical.
Demonstration and human chain was organized in Mouchak area of the upazila on Saturday morning to protest against the incident and to demand the trial of the former general secretary of Mouchak Union BNP, Harun Or Rashid. It was attended by students of the area, relatives of the injured and local residents. They blocked the Dhaka-Tangail highway. Later on the assurance of the police, when they left the highway, traffic became normal.
