Police recover decomposed body of missing elderly man in Noakhali

Police in the Senbag upazila of Noakhali recovered the decomposed body of a 60-year-old man from a ditch on Monday night, three days after he was reported missing. Local residents discovered the remains in the Binnaguni village area of the municipality’s 7th ward while investigating a foul odor emanating from the water.

The deceased, identified as Abul Kashem, was a resident of Chandpur village in the Kadra union. According to local sources and police, Kashem had been admitted to the Senbag Upazila Health Complex on Friday due to illness. Despite still having a medical cannula attached to his arm, he traveled to Binnaguni village to visit his sister later that day. He disappeared shortly after leaving her home, and family members were unable to locate him despite exhaustive searches.

Senbag Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdur Rahim Sarkar confirmed the recovery of the body and noted that the victim had been suffering from mental health issues. Authorities transported the remains to the morgue at the Noakhali 250-Bed General Hospital for an autopsy. Officials stated that further legal proceedings will be determined once the post-mortem report is finalized.
