Under the new political framework established by interim President Ahmed al-Shara, the 210-seat People’s Assembly has been reconstituted to include both elected representatives and presidential appointees. Lazkani is one of 70 citizens selected by the president under his constitutional authority, joining a diverse coalition that includes human rights activists, families of conflict victims, former political prisoners, and survivors of chemical attacks. She rose to prominence in the Arab world through a string of high-profile performances, including roles in the series “Intensive Care,” “Shawk,” and the widely recognized “Al-Hayba: The Payback.” Beyond her professional artistic endeavors, she became known for her clear political voice during the 2024 uprising against the Assad regime. Utilizing her social media platforms, Lazkani consistently advocated for democratic reform, publicly celebrating the regime’s downfall in December.
