‘Baishakhi Shobhayatra’ comes out of fine arts

‘Baishakhi Shobhayatra’ came out in front of Dhaka University Fine Arts Faculty.
After 9 o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, this procession came out under the leadership of Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor ABM Obaidul Islam with the theme of ‘New Year’s unity, revival of democracy’.

The National Anthem started at 9:30 AM. Then the procession started at six minutes past nine.
Apart from the teachers, students, officers and employees of Dhaka University, people from all walks of life are participating in the procession.

The procession will start from Gate No. 3 (North) of Fine Arts Faculty and take a U-turn in front of Shahbagh Police Station. From there, leaving Raju Bhaskarya and TSC premises on the right side, pass through Doyel Chatwar and come in front of Bangla Academy and come to Fine Arts Faculty again.
Earlier, various portraits were prepared for the exhibition at around eight o’clock in the morning during the Baisakhi procession. A total of five main symbols or motifs have been kept in this procession. These are roosters, elephants, pigeons, pigeons and horses. Rooster, dove and other motifs carry different messages.
The rooster symbolizes new beginnings, awakening and the coming of light, signaling the dispelling of darkness. Dotara highlights our cultural roots as the soul of Bengali folk music, while also reminding us of the status of music in the context of undervaluing Baul artistes. The wooden elephant built on the model of Narayanganj folk art museum is a symbol of folk tradition, strength and nobility. The tepa-shaped horse evokes memories of the simple life and childhood of rural Bengal. Pigeons carry the message of harmony, coexistence and global peace.
It is prohibited to wear masks in the university area on this Pahela Baisakh. Therefore, the participants of the procession are seen carrying the masks prepared by the Faculty of Fine Arts.
