A Dhaka court has denied bail for the fourth time to Ahmed Jobayer, the former managing director of Somoy Television, in a case involving allegations of fraud, breach of trust, and document forgery. Metropolitan Magistrate Rakibul Hassan issued the order on Sunday following a hearing in which the state opposed the release.

Jobayer has been in custody since June 18. Defense attorney Farhad Hossain confirmed the court’s decision, noting that while the former executive remains incarcerated, three other co-accused in the case have previously been granted bail. Two additional suspects remain at large.

The legal proceedings stem from a complaint filed on May 10 by Syed Asaduzzaman, a senior manager in the human resources department of Somoy Television. Following the initial filing, the court issued summons for six individuals, including Jobayer, to appear by June 17.

When the accused failed to appear as ordered, the court issued arrest warrants. On June 18, Jobayer and three others surrendered to the court to seek bail. While the judge granted bail to the three co-accused, Jobayer’s application was rejected, leading to his ongoing detention.
