Police recover body of construction worker from unfinished Dhaka building

Police recovered the hanging body of a 22-year-old construction worker, Md. Arif Sardar, from an under-construction building in the capital’s Khilgaon area on Wednesday morning.
Officers from the Khilgaon Police Station arrived at the 10-story site, located near Nur Tower on Road 6 in North Nandipara, at approximately 11:00 a.m. following reports of the incident. Upon inspection, they discovered the victim suspended by a rope from a ceiling fan hook inside a room designated for prayer on the building’s rooftop.
Sardar, the son of Alam Sardar from Porarchar Sardarpara in Jamalpur’s Islampur upazila, had been residing in a rented home in the Manikdia Chairman Bari area of Sabujbagh.
Sub-Inspector Md. Nazrul Islam stated that the circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear at this stage. Following preliminary legal procedures, the body was transported to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy to determine the official cause of death. Investigations are ongoing.
