Construction worker dies after fall at Dhaka building site

A 40-year-old security guard died Wednesday morning after falling from an under-construction building in the Chandrima Model Town area of Mohammadpur, Dhaka. The victim, identified as Md. Shuruj Sheikh, a native of Tangail’s Nagarpur upazila, was pronounced dead shortly after being rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The accident occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. at a 10-story construction site where Sheikh resided. According to his colleague, Sohel Rana, the fatal fall occurred while Sheikh was performing routine duties, specifically watering the building, when he plummeted from the third floor.
Rana immediately transported the critically injured man to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where medical staff confirmed his death.
Police Inspector Md. Faruk, stationed at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost, stated that the body has been transferred to the hospital morgue to undergo an autopsy. Local authorities have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
