Police investigate discovery of man found dead outside Chittagong relative’s home

Police in Chittagong’s Rauzan upazila recovered the bloodied body of a 36-year-old man from the stairs of a relative’s home on Tuesday. The victim, identified as Muhammad Rashed, was a resident of the Nanupur area in Fatikchhari.
Rashed had reportedly left his home on Monday afternoon, telling his family he intended to visit his maternal grandparents in the Saudagarpara area, located approximately one kilometer from the scene of the discovery. According to local sources and reports by Prothom Alo, Rashed arrived at his relative’s residence in the village of Dakshinpara, located in Ward 6 of Urkirchar Union, shortly after midnight.
Residents of the home, which was occupied only by two women at the time, reportedly did not open the door because they did not recognize Rashed’s voice in the darkness. Left waiting outside, Rashed remained at the residence overnight. Local villagers discovered his body on the stairs the following morning, noting severe injuries to his head.
Kasem Hiru, general secretary of the Saudagarpara Social Welfare Committee, stated that the occupants of the house only realized who the visitor was after discovering the scene on Tuesday morning.
Sub-Inspector Anisur Rahman of the Noapara police outpost confirmed that the body has been transferred to a hospital morgue for an autopsy. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death and have pledged to take appropriate legal action.
