8 former BDR members released on bail from Kashimpur jail

Eight former BDR members have been released on bail among the accused in the case filed under the Explosives Control Act in connection with the BDR rebellion. One inmate in the High Security Unit of Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur and seven inmates in Part-II of the jail were released today on Friday.
Confirming the matter, Jail Superintendent of Kashimpur High Security Jail Abdullah Al Mamun said that one from his jail and the rest from another jail have been released.
According to prison authority sources, eight accused in the explosives case were sent bail in Kashimpur jail in connection with BDR rebellion. After checking those bail bonds, the prisoners were released on bail as there were no arrest warrants in any other case. At this time, the relatives of prisoners were present in Karaft.
Jail Superintendent of Kashimpur Central Jail Part-2 Halima Khatun told Prothom Alo that one person was released from her jail on Friday morning and six people were released in the afternoon after checking the bail papers.
Incidentally, on February 25 and 26, 2009, 74 people, including 57 army officers, were killed in the incident of BDR rebellion at the headquarters of the Border Guard Force in Pilkhana, Dhaka. In that incident, two cases were registered under the Explosives and Murder Act. The trial of 850 people in the murder case ended on November 5, 2013. Where 152 people were sentenced to death and 160 people were sentenced to life imprisonment and 256 people were sentenced to various terms. And 278 people were acquitted.
