Police hunt suspect after child sexually assaulted and blackmailed in Mymensingh

Police in Gafargaon, Mymensingh, have launched a manhunt for a 37-year-old man accused of raping a primary school student and subsequently attempting to assault her again under the threat of releasing a recording of the initial attack.
The suspect, identified as Al Amin, is a local resident who has reportedly fled the area following the filing of a formal complaint by the victim’s mother on Friday evening. Authorities have officially recorded the case and initiated a search operation to apprehend him.
According to the case file, the victim is a fifth-grade student at a local cadet madrasa. The initial incident occurred on December 19, when the suspect allegedly lured the girl into an abandoned primary madrasa under the guise of buying her biscuits. It was there that he committed the rape and recorded the assault on his mobile phone, threatening to share the footage on social media if she disclosed the abuse to anyone.
The victim’s family reported that the suspect continued to leverage the recorded video to terrorize the girl, leading to a second attempted assault last Thursday. The girl managed to escape the situation and returned home, where she informed her relatives of the ongoing abuse.
Speaking to the media, the child’s mother expressed her anguish and demanded justice for the exploitation her daughter has endured. She noted that the suspect had kept her daughter in a state of constant fear by using the threat of digital exposure to facilitate his repeated predatory behavior.
Gafargaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Moniruzzaman confirmed that the case has been registered as a priority investigation. He stated that law enforcement became aware of the incident only after it became a subject of discussion within the local community. Police teams are currently conducting raids to track down the suspect, who remains at large.
