On the occasion of the arrival of Prime Minister Tariq Rahman, the local administration has started an operation to clear illegal structures on both sides of the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway. On Wednesday, Bhaluka and Trishal upazila administrations simultaneously started an operation to clear illegal structures on both sides of the road.

National poet Kazi Nazrul Islam’s 127th birth anniversary will be celebrated at Trishal in Mymensingh on May 25. Program and discussion will be organized from May 21 to May 25 at Darirampur Nazrul Academy ground. After nearly two decades, Prime Minister Tariq Rahman is scheduled to attend the nationally organized event on May 25.

The eviction campaign has started with emphasis on orderliness and beautification of the roads around the arrival of the Prime Minister on Nazrul Jayanti. Today, the upazila administration has launched an operation to clear the encroachment of the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in the Darirampur bus stand area of ​​Trishal. In this operation, hundreds of illegal structures built on both sides of the footpath and road were removed. Illegal shops and structures have been built in highways and bus stand areas for a long time, causing disruption to traffic and increasing the risk of accidents. The road was cleared by demolishing these illegal structures with excavators.

Trishal Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Arafat Siddiqui, who led the operation, said that the evacuation operation was carried out keeping in mind the arrival of the Prime Minister and the smooth movement of people during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

On the other hand, the upazila administration has launched an operation to clear the illegal structures built along the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Bhaluka. From morning to afternoon, from Nasir Glas area of ​​the upazila to Square Masterbari, the sidewalks on both sides of the highway and the shops built in the place of the Roads and Public Paths (Soaz) Department were evacuated. Hundreds of illegal structures, shophouses and businesses occupying the sidewalks that occupied the site of Sauz have been demolished.

It has been said by the administration that this operation has been conducted to relieve traffic congestion on the highway and ensure safe roads. Apart from this, due to the Nazrul Jayanti ceremony at the national level in Trishal, importance has been given to the issue of road order and beautification.

Assistant Commissioner (Lands) Iqbal Hossain said that the eviction of illegal structures along the highway is part of the regular operation. This is not a sudden decision. Such operations have been conducted before. On the occasion of Nazrul Jayanti in Trishal, this initiative has been taken to reduce traffic congestion and maintain order and beauty.
