PM Tarique Rahman Calls on Youth to Lead Bangladesh Towards Sustainable Future

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman emphasized that the future prosperity of Bangladesh rests upon the holistic development of today’s youth, urging children to balance academic excellence with athletic pursuits. The Prime Minister made these remarks while addressing the closing ceremony of the “Notun Kuri Sports 2025-26,” a major sporting event for adolescents held at the Bangladesh Army Stadium under the theme “Sports as a Profession, Family Finds Security.”
Addressing the young athletes in attendance, the Prime Minister noted that while the government is currently laying the groundwork for a developed nation, the ultimate success of this vision depends on the younger generation preparing themselves to lead. He encouraged the students to remain dedicated to their studies and sports, expressing his firm belief that the talented youth present at the event would emerge as the nation’s future doctors, engineers, architects, and international-standard athletes.

Beyond academic and athletic success, the Prime Minister issued a call to action for environmental stewardship. He urged children to take personal responsibility for their surroundings by discouraging littering and actively participating in the cleanup of public spaces, rivers, and ponds. He also called for a national tree-planting initiative, encouraging each child to plant at least one tree annually to ensure a greener and more breathable environment for the country.
Touching upon the importance of animal welfare, the Prime Minister urged the youth to be compassionate toward animals and birds. He stressed that while one may not always be able to provide direct care for stray animals, it is essential to ensure they are never subjected to harm or cruelty.

Reflecting on the government’s broader commitments, the Prime Minister stated that ongoing efforts are being made to address infrastructural challenges in schools. He assured students that the administration remains dedicated to fostering an environment where children can excel, whether in education, sports, arts, or music, by providing the necessary support and resources for their growth.
In a direct appeal to the media, the Prime Minister requested that journalists and news organizations prioritize coverage of children’s successes and youth-led initiatives. He noted that while political and social news often dominates headlines, the achievements of children represent the true future of Bangladesh and should be showcased as a priority in the public discourse.
