Outsourcing staff strike at DNCC Dedicated Covid-19 Hospital

The employees employed in the outsourcing system at the DNCC Dedicated Covid-19 Hospital in Mohakhali of the capital started a strike on Wednesday morning. Patients are in trouble.
This strike started at eight o’clock this morning. The strike continued at 12 noon. The agitators said that they were hired in outsourcing during the Corona pandemic, in 2021. Now they don’t want to go under contractors. From outsourcing to subcontractors they will be deprived of various facilities. So they started the movement.
Farzana Akhtar, who is on strike, said that she is working as a nanny in this hospital. The agitators including him want to stay at the hospital in outsourcing as before. They don’t want to go under contractors. He claimed that they will have many problems if they go under the contractor. There will be risk with the job.
Another activist Rafiqul Islam said, he is working as a wardman. He and other protestors have only one demand, they don’t want to go under the contractor. Because, the job may go away under the contractor. Salary and other benefits may be reduced.
Due to this strike by the employees, the patients in the hospital are in trouble. They complain of not getting proper service.
Nana Abdur Bar came to this hospital yesterday with his granddaughter Jannat Begum (8 months) from Noakhali. He told Prothom Alo that his granddaughter’s condition is bad. He was admitted to ICU. A little while ago the doctor did some tests. But after going for the test, the people in charge say that it will not happen today. Those who work are on strike.
