Natore businessman’s throat cut body: Wife and son killed and arranged a false story

The police have arrested the man’s wife Shiuli Begum (35) and son Saifuddin Siddique alias Royal (23) in connection with the recovery of the strangled body of fish trader Rafiqul Islam (45) in Singra, Natore. According to the information given by them, the chapati used in the murder and blood stained clothes were recovered from the pond near the house.

According to the police, during the interrogation, Shiuli Begum and her son admitted to be involved in the murder. The woman said that she could not bear the torture of her drug addict husband and took her son with her.

According to local and Singra police sources, the fish trader Rafiqul Islam’s strangled body was recovered from his house on Monday morning and the police started questioning his wife Shiuli Begum and son Saifuddin Siddique on the spot. At the beginning of the interrogation, the wife claimed that she got up to pray early in the morning and found the dead body of her husband in the next room. Earlier on Sunday night she massaged oil on her husband’s head and had dinner.

However, at one stage of interrogation, first the son and later the wife admitted that they had jointly killed Rafiqul by slitting his throat. They also told the police that they threw the blood-stained clothes and used chapati in the nearby pond during the murder. Later, according to the information given by them, the police searched the pond and recovered blood-stained clothes and chapati.

After unraveling the mystery of the murder, the police sent Rafiqul’s body to Natore Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem. Farooq Hossain, the brother of the person killed in this incident, filed a murder case against Shiuli Begum and Saifuddin Siddique as the plaintiff. Preparations are underway to show their arrest in the case and send them to court.

Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Singra police station, said, “We went to the spot this morning after getting the news. Immediately we interrogated the wife and son of the deceased. First they tell false stories. At one point he confessed to killing Rafiqul. According to the information given by them, the chapati used in the murder and the blood stained clothes worn by the accused were recovered from a nearby pond. It has been initially confirmed that they have caused the incident. Preparations are underway to send them to the magistrate to confess their guilt.
