Mong Hai Singh Marma awarded Drik photography grant for 2026

Photographer Mong Hlaing Singh Marma has been selected for the 2026 grant program dedicated to photojournalism in marginalized communities, an initiative spearheaded by the renowned photography organization Drik. The announcement was made public through the organization’s social media channels on Wednesday evening.
Under the terms of the fellowship, Marma will receive comprehensive support to execute his proposed photographic project. The program aims to foster professional growth by providing him with year-long mentorship and intensive training under the guidance of seasoned, industry-expert photographers. In addition to technical and professional development, Marma’s work is scheduled to be featured in the Bangladesh Press Photo 2027 exhibition.
Reflecting on the selection, Marma stated that he was notified of the honor via a phone call from Drik on Wednesday. He expressed deep gratitude for the recognition, noting that the fellowship serves as a significant motivator to pursue his work with a heightened sense of professional responsibility.
