Police in Narayanganj recovered the body of a 61-year-old businessman on Thursday morning, one day after he was reported missing. The victim, Motaleb Hossain, was found wrapped in bedding along a roadside near Haji Brothers Road in the city’s Jamtala area.

Hossain, a native of the Ramganj upazila in Lakshmipur, had long resided in a rented home in the Masdair graveyard area of Narayanganj. He operated a stationery shop and a mobile banking service at the local Masdair market. His family filed a missing person’s report with the Fatullah Model Police Station on Wednesday after he failed to return home.

According to police, the body was discovered by local residents at approximately 6:30 a.m. Upon arrival, investigators observed multiple signs of physical trauma. Sub-Inspector Rafiqul Islam, who examined the scene, noted that the victim showed evidence of both strangulation and burns caused by scalding water.

Authorities believe Hossain was abducted and murdered elsewhere on Wednesday night before his body was discarded at the roadside location. The remains have been sent to the Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination. Police have launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the killing and are currently working to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the crime.
