Matinur Rahman is the new vice-chancellor of Islami University

Professor AKM Matinur Rahman of Public Administration Department of the University has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Islamic University (EB). This information was informed in a notification issued by the Government General University Branch of the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education on Thursday.
According to the notification, Matinur Rahman has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor as per Section 10(1) of the Islamic University Act, 1980 with the approval of His Excellency the President and Chancellor (Acharya). As per the terms of appointment, the Vice-Chancellor will hold office for a period of four years from the date of joining. During his tenure as Vice-Chancellor, he will enjoy salary and other benefits equivalent to his current post. Apart from this, he will stay on the campus full-time as the chief executive officer of the university.
The notification also mentions that His Excellency the President and Chancellor can cancel this appointment at any time if necessary.
Matinur Rahman told Prothom Alo on the phone when contacted around 5:50 this afternoon, “I am in the ministry at the moment. Joining I will talk later.’
Professor AKM Matinur Rahman is the founding convenor of Sada Dal, a pro-BNP teachers organization of Islamic University and an executive member of the University Teachers Association of Bangladesh (UTAB). He served as the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and the President of the Teachers’ Association. Earlier he taught at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. 34 of his research articles have been published in domestic and foreign journals.
