Manikganj Man Accused of Murdering Sister-in-Law and Nephew

A violent domestic dispute in Manikganj’s Daulatpur upazila left a woman and her toddler son dead on Saturday night, local authorities confirmed. The suspect, identified as the victims’ relative, remains at large following the attack in the remote Bachamara area.
Police reported that 28-year-old Aminan Khatun and her 18-month-old son, Asowad, were fatally struck in the head with a hammer. Aminan’s husband, Abdus Salam, sustained severe injuries during the encounter when he returned home and was also attacked by the assailant. Salam has since been admitted to the local upazila health complex for emergency treatment.
According to Daulatpur Police Station officer-in-charge Swapan Kumar Sarkar, the suspect is the brother of the injured husband, identified as Md. Yusuf. Investigators believe the attack was precipitated by ongoing family tensions. Local sources indicated that Yusuf had been staying at his brother’s home in the riverine village of Bachamara since before the Eid holiday.
The incident has stunned the isolated community, situated in a difficult-to-reach area near the Jamuna River. Law enforcement officials have launched a search for the suspect, who fled the scene immediately after the assault. Investigations into the precise nature of the domestic conflict are ongoing.
