Students Protest Transfer of Comilla College Teachers Following Flood-Hit Exams

Students at Comilla Government Women’s College launched a sit-in protest Saturday to condemn the transfer of seven faculty members, a disciplinary action they describe as unjust following an examination held amidst severe waterlogging.
The controversy stems from an incident on July 13, when students were forced to sit for their Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams while wading through waist-deep water on campus. Ten days later, on July 23, the Ministry of Education issued transfer orders for seven teachers. Students argue the punitive measures are misdirected, asserting that the persistent flooding is a consequence of infrastructure failures and municipal negligence by the city corporation rather than faculty misconduct.

During the demonstration, Professor Mohammad Mohsin, one of the educators facing reassignment, urged the students to end their protest, citing concerns that his involvement could lead to his termination. While the appeal left many students visibly emotional, the collective remains resolute in their stance. They have refused to disperse, demanding that authorities prioritize a permanent solution to the campus flooding crisis over the reassignment of staff.
