The suspect’s sister filed a formal complaint with the Chandrima Police Station, leading to the registration of a criminal case. Authorities have formally arrested Mehedi Hasan and seized the sharp implement used in the attack. Police stated that once the suspect is medically cleared, he will be transferred to judicial custody.

Preliminary investigations suggest the attack was motivated by the suspect’s demand for money to purchase narcotics. Investigators are continuing to look into whether other factors contributed to the violence.

Mohammad Gaziur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner and spokesperson for the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, confirmed the arrests and the recovery of the weapon. He dismissed unsubstantiated reports circulating on social media claiming the victims had died, clarifying that all parties are currently alive and under medical supervision. Police have urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information regarding the incident.
