Leaving his father’s body at home, the son participated in the SSC examination

A candidate named Saif Hossain (16) participated in the SSC examination by keeping his father’s body at home in Dharmapasha upazila of Sunamganj. Today Monday at 10 am in Badshaganj Public Girls’ High School, he took part in the geography and environment exam.
Saif Hossain is a humanities student of Badshaganj Government High School of Upazila. He is the son of Abdul Bached, a resident of Matikata village of Selbarash Union.

Relatives said that Abdul Bached (54) was the general secretary of the management committee of the old Jame Masjid (Umbrella Mosque) in Matikata. Along with farming, he worked as a passport agent. He was taken to Dhaka for treatment when he felt chest pain last Thursday morning. He was admitted to a private hospital that evening. While undergoing treatment there, he died of a heart attack on Sunday around 9:30 pm.
Abdul Bached’s body was brought home at around five o’clock in the morning on Monday. On hearing the news, several local residents and relatives and acquaintances from the surrounding villages gathered at their houses since morning to take a look. In such a situation, the relatives explained and sent Saif to the examination center.

Nazrul Islam, head teacher and central secretary of Badshaganj Public Girls’ High School said that Saif sat in the hall crying most of the time and participated in the examination. He said, “I and another teacher gave encouragement and courage to Saif during the examination.”
After the exam, Saif Hossain said in a tearful voice, “All our dreams are over.” Even though I participated in the exam, I kept remembering my father’s words.
Abdul Bached’s cousin and Dharmapasha Upazila BNP’s joint convener Zulfikar Ali said, today around 2:20 PM, Abdul Bached was buried in the cemetery adjacent to the mosque after the funeral at the old Jame Masjid premises in Matikata.
