Jagannath University appoints Economics Professor Azam Khan as acting proctor

Professor Md. Azam Khan of the Economics Department has been appointed as the acting Proctor of Jagannath University, filling the vacancy left by the incumbent, Mohammad Nasir Uddin. The announcement was formalized in an office order issued Tuesday by the university’s acting Registrar, Md. Sheikh Gias Uddin.

The administrative order states that the appointment was made following an application from Proctor Mohammad Nasir Uddin, who requested leave for medical treatment abroad. Professor Khan will serve in this additional capacity subject to the approval of the university syndicate, with his tenure officially commencing on August 12. He will remain in the post until further notice and will be entitled to standard allowances and benefits associated with the role.

In his new capacity, Professor Khan will oversee campus security and the maintenance of law and order. In addition to his primary faculty position in the Economics Department, he currently serves as the director of the Institute of Education and Research. He also holds the position of acting president of the Jagannath University Sada Dal.
