International Crimes Tribunal orders appearance of Ziaul Ahsan and Tareq Sayeed in disappearance and extrajudicial killing cases

International Crimes Tribunal-2 has ordered the production of retired Major General Ziaul Ahsan and dismissed Lieutenant Colonel Tareq Sayeed Mohammad in connection with two separate cases involving allegations of crimes against humanity, including enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings. The tribunal directed that both individuals be brought before the court on August 10.
According to prosecution lawyer Gazi Monawar Hussain Tamim, one of the cases pertains to the 2013 extrajudicial killing of three local BNP leaders in Lakshmipur: Abdul Mannan, Zahirul Islam Sumon, and Asaduzzaman Babul, which took place on December 15 of that year.
The second case concerns the alleged enforced disappearance of two other BNP leaders, Saiful Islam Hiru and Humayun Kabir Parvez, from Laksam in Comilla on November 27, 2013.
Prosecutor Shaikh Mahadi confirmed that both Ziaul Ahsan and Tareq Sayeed Mohammad are named as defendants in these proceedings. The tribunal issued the production order following legal arguments presented by the prosecution regarding their involvement in the alleged crimes.
