Four days after the killing of Pir in Kushtia, there is no arrest, the accused Jamaat leader

Even after four days, the police could not arrest anyone in the murder of Pir Abdur Rahman alias Shamim in Daulatpur of Kushtia. Police said that an operation is underway to arrest the accused in the incident.
Last Monday night, the deceased’s elder brother Fazlur Rahman filed a murder case at Daulatpur police station. Local Jamaat leader Muhammad Khawaja Ahmed (38) has been charged as the chief and commander. He is the former president of Kushtia district student camp and currently a member of the working council of Daulatpur Upazila Jamaat. His home is in Islampur village of Phillipnagar Union; Father’s name is Kalam Dafadar.
The names and identities of four persons have been mentioned in the statement of the case. The other three are sons of the deceased Ershad Ali of Hossainabad (Bishwaspara) village of Daulatpur upazila. Asaduzzaman (35). He is the President of Daulatpur Upazila Committee of Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis. Accused number 3 is Rajeev Mistry (45), son of Gazi Mistry of West-South Philipnagar Darogar Mor area. On Saturday around 3:30 p.m., his brother was staying at the darbar at home. At that time, on the order of accused number 1, Muhammad Khawaja Ahmed, 180 to 200 unknown accused, including accused accused, gathered together and entered the Durbar Sharif with iron rods, iron rods, knives, axes, bamboo sticks and wooden sticks. They vandalized the doors and windows of the court. Unidentified accused including Rajeev entered the second floor of Darbar Sharif and beat Zobair (31) with an iron rod. According to the statement, the unidentified accused cut Abdur Rahman with a sharp weapon indiscriminately on the head, near the right jaw, between the lips, on the snout, on the left side of the back and behind the knee of the right leg, and beat him indiscriminately on different parts of the body with bamboo sticks and wooden batons. The affidavit also mentions that the accused caused damage of approximately 2 million rupees by vandalizing and setting fire to Darbar Sharif. The unidentified accused broke the steel cupboard in Abdur Rahman’s Darbar Sharif and stole Tk 5 lakh and 4 pieces of gold ornaments.
When Jamaat leader Muhammad Khawaja Ahmed was contacted, he refused to comment.
Daulatpur Upazila Jamaat sent a press release to the media on Tuesday night regarding the murder. A press release signed by Daulatpur Upazila Jamaat Amir Belal Uddin and Secretary Abdullah Al Noman informed that the incident in Philipnagar is not a part of any political activity. Even no one involved in the incident is a political party leader or activist. The matter happened by accident locally. It is not part of any political plan. However, the matter is being fueled by a political circle and false propaganda is being carried out involving Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. No leader or worker of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is involved in this murder. The notification demanded proper investigation and punishment of the real culprits.
