First year classes in Rajshahi University start on Sunday, arrangements will be made if ragging

In Rajshahi University, the classes for the first year students of Bachelor (Honours) in the academic year 2025-26 will start next Sunday. This information was informed in a press release sent by the public relations office of the university on Wednesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Proctoral Body has informed that disciplinary action will be taken as per the rules if the new students are ragging.

According to the notification, the undergraduate first year classes will start from May 10. The concerned students are advised to attend the class on time as per the class routine.  

Meanwhile, University Proctor Professor Mahbubur Rahman said that the administration will continue to strictly monitor ragging. He told Prothom Alo that there are strict instructions regarding ragging. Punitive action will be taken against anyone involved in such crime. Apart from this, administration’s regular operations to prevent ragging will continue. Without the permission of the departmental meeting, no student of any year can organize an introduction or exchange program with freshmen of other years.

It is to be noted that this year Rajshahi University admission test started on January 16 through C unit admission test. The admission test of this unit was held the next day. Then this year’s examination ended with B unit examination on 24th January. Meanwhile, the university authorities released the admission test results of ‘C’, 22nd ‘A’ and 28th ‘B’ units last January 23. This year, apart from Rajshahi, the entrance exam was held in five divisional cities as regional centres.

2 lakh 72 thousand 626 candidates got a chance to participate in 3 units in total against 4 thousand 17 seats in this year’s admission examination. Out of this, 1 lakh 15 thousand 515 people applied in A (Humanities) unit, 30 thousand 886 people in B (Business) unit and 1 lakh 26 thousand 225 people applied in C (Science) unit.
