Finance Minister Amir Khasru Pledges to Stabilize Commodity Prices
Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury emphasized on Thursday that achieving economic growth is insufficient unless the benefits of that progress reach the general population. Speaking to reporters following Eid-ul-Adha prayers at the Kattali Darussalam Jame Mosque in Chittagong, the minister underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring that the advantages of national development are equitably distributed.
Addressing the current state of the nation’s finances, the minister acknowledged that the government is actively working to stabilize the economy. He noted that steering the country toward lasting prosperity is a complex process that will require both patience and sustained effort. He reiterated that the administration remains focused on building a welfare-oriented state, stressing that as an elected government, they are fully accountable to the public.

Regarding the recent market conditions, the minister observed that the situation during this year’s Eid-ul-Adha has been notably better and more manageable than in previous years. While commodity prices traditionally surge during the festival season, Chowdhury highlighted that prices actually trended downward this year. He expressed a firm intent to maintain this momentum, affirming that the government is working to ensure the cost of essential goods remains well within the purchasing power of the common citizen.
