Economist Selim Raihan Joins TIB Board of Trustees

Professor Selim Raihan, a distinguished economist and academic, has been appointed as the newest member of the Board of Trustees for Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB). The organization announced the appointment in a press release on Tuesday, confirming that he will serve a three-year term on the anti-corruption watchdog’s highest policy-making body.
Professor Raihan currently serves as a faculty member in the Department of Economics at the University of Dhaka and holds the position of executive director at the South Asian Network on Economic Modeling (SANEM). His extensive academic background includes a postgraduate degree from the University of Dhaka and a doctorate from the University of Manchester. Beyond his domestic contributions, he maintains a significant international profile, serving on the board of the Global Development Network and holding a position as an honorary senior research fellow at the University of Manchester. He is also an alumnus of Harvard University’s “Cutting Edge of Development Thinking” program.

The TIB Board of Trustees oversees the strategic direction of the organization. The board is chaired by noted human rights activist and ‘Jibon Tori’ floating hospital founder Mansur Ahmed Chowdhury, while Mahfuz Anam, editor and publisher of The Daily Star, serves as the treasurer. The board also includes Advocate Susmita Chakma, Philip Gain, Bonoshree Paul, Faruk Ahmed, Tahera Yasmin, and Barrister Manzoor Hasan.
