Due to fog, Daulatdia-Paturia ferry resumed operation after an hour and a half closure

Due to the fog, boat traffic including ferry was stopped for about one and a half hours on Daulatdia in Rajbari and Paturia in Manikganj. Boat traffic including ferry was stopped from 5:45 am on Saturday morning. At that time many vehicles were stuck at both the ghats as they could not cross the river.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Aricha office said that there was sudden fog during the early morning hours at the end of the month of Chaitra, which caused disruption to the navigation. As the fog gradually thickened, they stopped boat traffic including ferries on the Daulatdia and Paturia waterways from 5:45 am to avoid accidents. Meanwhile, various vehicles, including passenger and goods vehicles, were stranded in Daulatdia and Paturia ghat areas.

BIWTC also informed that when the ferry service is stopped due to fog, Ro Ro Ferry Birshrestha Matiur Rahman at Ghat No. 3 at Paturia end, Bhashasainik Golam Mawla at Ghat No. 4 and Ghat No. 5 anchor various ferries.

Similarly, ro-ro ferry Keramat Ali and utility ferry Hasna Hena anchor at Ghat No. 7 area of ​​Daulatdia end. About an hour and a half later, around 7:30 AM, when the fog cleared, the ferries started again and started leaving the pier one by one.

As the ferry was stopped for more than an hour and a half, their cars were stuck at the wharf and the passengers were subjected to additional suffering.

Abdus Salam, assistant general manager of BIWTC Aricha office, said that fog started falling on the river from early morning today. At this time, the ferry was temporarily stopped to avoid accidents. After about an hour and a half, the ferry was launched after 7:30 AM. At that time, some vehicles were stuck at both the ghats, but there was no problem in crossing the vehicles due to the sufficient number of ferries.
