The court remanded Major (retd.) Manzil Haider Chowdhury (48), who was dismissed in the case of the murder of businessman Abdul Wadud in Newmarket area of the capital during the July agitation.
The court remanded Manzil Haider Chowdhury for four days in this case last Friday. After the remand on Monday, the investigating officer of the case applied for a seven-day remand. Amjad Hossain Talukder.

After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Alam ordered a three-day remand. The matter was confirmed by the lawyer of the state side, Jamal Uddin Marzin.
Manzil Haider Chowdhury was working in Directorate General of Defense Intelligence (DGFI). He was arrested from Mohakhali DOHS area of the capital last Thursday.

The remand application said that during the interrogation, the accused had given important information about the involvement of Major General (retd) Tariq Siddiqui, military advisor of the fascist government, and partial information on other matters. It is necessary to carry out an operation against him with the purpose of collecting the evidence of the information given by him and interrogating him closely.
The petition also said that during interrogation, the accused gave partial information about financial support, instructions given and money, collection and users of arms and ammunition to unnamed and involved unnamed absconding accused. Interrogating him further for the investigation of the case will provide complete information and it will be possible to arrest the absconding accused by conducting raids based on the information provided by him.
According to the details of the case, on July 19, 2024, a student march was fired upon and attacked in the Newmarket area. Businessman Abdul Wadud was shot and died. Abdur Rahman, the brother-in-law of the deceased, filed a murder case against Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader and 130 others as plaintiff.
