Dhaka authorities announce Eid prayer schedules and locations

Dhaka is prepared for the nationwide celebration of Eid-ul-Adha, with authorities organizing hundreds of prayers across the capital. The main congregation will be held at the National Eidgah at 7:30 a.m., where the Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, Mufti Muhammad Abdul Malek, is scheduled to lead the prayers. In the event of inclement weather, the primary service will be moved to the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 8:00 a.m.

Security measures have been heightened at the National Eidgah, which is expected to host the President, Prime Minister, Supreme Court justices, foreign diplomats, and other dignitaries. Beyond the main gathering, Baitul Mukarram will host five separate prayer sessions throughout the morning, scheduled at 7:00, 8:00, 9:00, 10:00, and 10:45 a.m.

Educational and institutional hubs across the city have also finalized their schedules. Dhaka University’s central mosque will hold prayers at 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., while specific halls, including Salimullah Muslim Hall and Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah Hall, have scheduled services at 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., respectively. Additionally, the South Plaza of the National Parliament building will host prayers at 7:30 a.m., and the Gulshan Central Mosque (Azad Mosque) has organized three services beginning at 5:45 a.m., 7:30 a.m., and 9:30 a.m.

Citywide, more than 100 Eidgahs and over 1,500 mosques have finalized arrangements to accommodate residents. As part of the national observance, government and semi-autonomous buildings have been illuminated. Special meals are set to be served at hospitals, prisons, and orphanages, while state-run and private media outlets have prepared extensive programming for the holiday.

Political leadership, including President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, issued official statements extending their greetings to the nation. Leaders from various political parties, including the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, also shared messages of well-wishes for the public as the country marks the major religious festival.
