Deputy Speaker provides new home and medical aid to disabled laborer in Netrokona

Nurul Amin, a 34-year-old electrician from Borokhapon village in Netrokona’s Kalmakanda upazila, has been provided with a new home and medical support after a debilitating series of workplace accidents left him unable to support his family. Once a steady provider for his wife and three daughters, Amin’s life shifted five years ago when a severe electrocution at a factory in Bhaluka, Mymensingh, resulted in the loss of his right arm. The subsequent loss of mobility in his remaining hand left him destitute, forcing his family to live in a dilapidated, leaking shack that became increasingly hazardous during the monsoon season.
The family’s plight gained public attention after local content creator Abdur Rashid posted a video documenting their struggle on social media ahead of Eid-ul-Adha. The footage, which depicted Amin’s inability to afford medical care or basic housing repairs, resonated with the local community and eventually reached Deputy Speaker of the National Parliament and Netrokona-1 MP Kaysar Kamal.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Kamal intervened by financing the construction of a new home for the family. The completed structure was formally handed over to Amin this Saturday. In addition to securing the housing, Kamal has arranged for comprehensive medical treatment to address Amin’s health concerns. Along with the new dwelling, the family received gifts including clothing and essential food supplies.
Reflecting on the assistance, Amin expressed profound relief, recalling how his family previously endured sleepless nights huddled under plastic sheets and umbrellas to shelter from the rain. Neighbors have lauded the intervention, noting that the community had been deeply concerned about the family’s precarious living conditions.
Addressing the initiative, Deputy Speaker Kaysar Kamal emphasized that the project was driven by a sense of humanitarian responsibility. He stated that it is a societal obligation to support the vulnerable during times of crisis, noting that providing such assistance is the most significant testament to one’s commitment to humanity.
