The eighth edition of ‘Retail Congress 2026’ was held last Saturday at Radisson Blue Water Garden Hotel in the capital under the initiative of Bangladesh Retail Forum and Bangladesh Brand Forum.

Top retailers, brand leaders, supply chain experts, marketing professionals and decision makers from various sectors participated in the day-long conference themed ‘Transforming Retail Through Knowledge’.

The discussion highlighted the changing reality of the retail sector in Bangladesh, where data-driven strategies, customer behavior analysis, operational efficiency and the use of technology are becoming increasingly important. The congress featured three keynote sessions, three panel discussions and two insight sessions.

In the opening speech, Group Chief Executive Officer and Executive Editor of Bangladesh Brand Forum Sajid Mahbub said, ‘The ability to transform knowledge into action is redefining the retail sector today. Understanding the changing customer needs and quick adaptation will determine the future leadership.’ He further said, ‘As the retail sector in Bangladesh is expanding and becoming more complex, the need for informed decision-making is increasing. Such platforms bring industry stakeholders together and collectively help build a sustainable and future-oriented retail ecosystem.”

Ashraf Bin Taj, Managing Director of International Distribution Company Bangladesh, Shadman Sadiqin, Head of Customer Business Development (CBD) of Unilever Bangladesh Limited and Sami Ashraf, Chief Executive Officer of Omni Strategy, addressed the key note session.

Speakers highlighted the need for distribution efficiency, purpose-driven business strategies and technology-driven retail systems to keep pace with changing consumer expectations.
