Abdullah Zafar bin Abiah, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia appointed to Dhaka, paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of the National Parliament, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, at his office in the Sangsad Bhawan on Monday.

A press release from the Parliament Secretariat informed that during the meeting, both of them exchanged views on strengthening the inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries and the formation of the Parliamentary Friendship Group. At this time, they discussed the role of the United States and Iran in the ongoing Middle East crisis. The speaker proposed to the Saudi ambassador that the OIC should play an effective role in resolving the Rohingya crisis.

At that time, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad said, Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia have deep brotherly relations. A large number of pilgrims from Bangladesh visit Mecca and Medina every year. He said, performing the holy Hajj on the basis of religious commonality strengthens the mutual respect and long-term friendly bilateral relations between the people of the two countries.
